Fellowship
"I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing."
John 15:5
The people who serve in this ministry of the church know how to have a good time. They are responsible for planning all of the events, throughout the year, that bring the members and guests of this church together for fun, food, and a bit of frivolity. This committee has oversight of the kitchen and all of our Wednesday Night Suppers. They have been the coordinating team for all of our Dinner Groups. When the YAPs (Young Adult Presbyterians) or the GADABOUTS (a senior fellowship group) want to plan an event, this is the committee that provides oversight.
And, if another committee, group or individual want to celebrate a special occasion (i.e. renewal of wedding vows, farewell reception, or special recognition) you would be wise to consult with this team of creative people. They know where to go if you want a beautiful cake, spaghetti noodles in bulk, or decorations for any event. These are the folks we turn to when we want to schedule a retreat. They know all the great spots on the Gulf Coast for just such an event. And, if they don’t, they will do their homework and report back to you. On Sunday mornings when there is fresh coffee and some kind of pastry or cookies ready and waiting for those who are departing from the sanctuary, you can thank the men and women who serve on this committee. They either prepared it themselves or asked someone else to do it!
In short, our Fellowship Committee is primarily responsible for building community; making sure we know and enjoy being with one another, and helping us to share the stories and common experiences of our lives.
